The Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri, Borno State said it killed 24 persons on Monday night suspected of belonging to Militant Islamic sect, Boko Haram during a shoot out in Zanari area of the state Capital, Spokesman of the Joint Task Force JTF, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa confirmed the killing in a press statement issued to reporters yesterday in Maiduguri the state capital.

“24 Boko Haram Terrorist were Killed when the sect launched an attack yesterday night.” Musa said.

Musa revealed that the terrorist attacked different locations targeting Military. Checkpoints in Zanari area of the state capital with “Rocket Propelled Grenades, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and Gun Fire.”

  
“ the terrorist used Civilian residences/ homes as launching areas at different times on the night of Monday 15 , October 2012″

The spokesman however revealed that ” no civilian casualty was recorded but one Soldier was wounded”.

The JTF said the following items was recovered from the militant sect ” 1 XRPG Tube, 4 RPG Chargers, 1X General Purpose Machine Gun, 7X AK 47 rifles, 1X FNC rifle, 24 assorted empty magazines, 950 assorted Ammunitions, 2X Pistols, Large quantity of IED materials , Several Bows, Arrows and Cutlasses ”
