Hazard: I am not at Chelsea to be a star - I want to help my team-mates

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder arrived at Stamford Bridge for a fee in the region of €40 million this summer and has been in imperious form since his transfer from Lille. He was instrumental in the wins against both Wigan and Reading, before scoring his first goal for Roberto Di Matteo's side against Newcastle.

But in spite of his electric start, the Belgium international insists he did not cross the Channel to be the star man.

“I love to set up my team-mates," he told Champions Matchday magazine.

"I am not here to be a star, to show off. I am here to play for the others, but if I have to try and clinch a game then I will."

Chelsea beat a host of top European clubs to secure the signature of Hazard, who follows in the footsteps of fellow countrymen Marouane Fellaini, Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertongen and Vincent Kompany in moving to the Premier League.

However, Hazard admits he faces challenges adjusting to life in England.

“It’s totally different here. With Lille we could have gone to the South of France and people would not have recognised us. But at Chelsea, the players are at another level," he added.

"Everything has changed for me — the language, the country — but it is up to me to adapt.”
